Instructional Technology Specialist

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking an Instructional Technology Specialist for the Institute for Families (IFF). This position reports to the L&D Supervisor and will work out of the New Brunswick or Cherry Hill office. The professional must have reliable transportation and be willing to travel throughout New Jersey for project assignments.

Among the key duties of the position are the following:

  • Handles the design and development of engaging, learner-centered training courses, modules, and materials for child- and family-serving professionals.
  • Utilizes the ADDIE model of course development—from participating in the initial needs assessment through the design, development, implementation, and review of evaluation summaries for all finished courses.
  • Designs content for a variety of platforms applying pedagogy, knowledge of adult learning principles, and instructional design principles to create engaging learning experiences that build skills and knowledge for the targeted human service learner.
  • Collaborates with subject matter experts, stakeholders, and other team members, as well as independent research, to inform project plans that ensure work is consistent with the mission and goals of IFF and meets project deliverables.
  • Handles the writing phases of product development, including developing learning objectives, scripts, scenarios, and assessments that are clearly tied to desired outcomes.
  • Collaborates closely with subject matter experts and stakeholders – reconciling feedback to balance technical accuracy and evidence-based practices with sound pedagogical principles, ensuring all content reflects current and evidence-based practices and maintaining a consistent instructional voice throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Writes content for traditional classroom-based instruction, synchronous remote learning, blended classroom learning, interactive e-learning, microlearning, videos, webinars, screencasts, job aides, simulation, and resource materials.
