Senior Estimator - Heavy Civil Construction

We are partnered with a well-established heavy civil contractor in Northern New Jersey that is actively seeking a Senior Estimator to support a strong pipeline of transportation and infrastructure work throughout the region.

This contractor is recognized for delivering complex heavy civil projects across highways, bridges, utilities, site development, and public infrastructure markets. The company has built a strong reputation throughout the Northeast for its ability to self-perform critical scopes of work while consistently delivering large-scale public works projects for state and municipal agencies.

The Senior Estimator will play a key role within the preconstruction team, leading estimates on complex heavy civil and transportation projects while supporting strategic pursuits across New Jersey and the surrounding markets.

This individual will work closely with operations leadership, project management teams, subcontractors, and owners to develop competitive and accurate bids for major infrastructure projects.

• Lead the preparation of detailed cost estimates for heavy civil and transportation projects
• Analyze drawings, specifications, geotechnical reports, and contract documents
• Develop quantity takeoffs, pricing strategies, and bid proposals
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing

• Participate in bid strategy discussions with executive and operations leadership
• Identify project risks, opportunities, and value engineering alternatives
• Assist with conceptual budgeting and preconstruction planning efforts
• Work closely with Project Managers and Superintendents during project turnover
• Coordinate with owners, consultants, and estimating teams throughout the bid process
• Support scheduling and phasing reviews for complex infrastructure projects

Projects may include:

• Highway and roadway improvements
• Bridge rehabilitation and reconstruction
• Utility and underground infrastructure
• Site development and earthwork
• DOT and public infrastructure projects

• 7+ years of estimating experience within heavy civil construction
• Strong experience estimating transportation and public works projects
• Ability to manage large, complex bids independently
• Experience with self-perform civil scopes strongly preferred
• Strong understanding of labor production, equipment pricing, and subcontractor management
• Proficiency with estimating software such as HCSS, Heavy Bid, Bluebeam, or similar platforms
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
