DescriptionJoin a growing team dedicated to public‑sector civil engineering projects in Cape May Court House, NJ. This role is ideal for a professional with 2–5 years of experience. You will work on transportation, water and wastewater, stormwater, and infrastructure projects with clear opportunities for growth, mentorship, and a path toward Professional Engineer licensure.
ResponsibilitiesMunicipal Review & Technical Analysis
- Review site plans, subdivision and land development applications, and capital improvement projects for compliance with municipal ordinances, engineering standards, and applicable regulations
- Prepare technical review letters, engineering reports, and written recommendations for municipal clients, boards, and internal teams
- Support and, as appropriate, participate in planning board and zoning board meetings, responding to engineering comments and coordinating with applicants and stakeholders
- Apply engineering judgment to evaluate drainage, grading, roadway, utility, and stormwater components of development and public infrastructure projects
Engineering & Design
- Prepare and contribute to the design of municipal infrastructure improvements, including roadway, drainage, utility, and site‑related projects
- Assist in the development of plans, specifications, cost estimates, and supporting technical documentation for municipal capital improvement projects
- Perform engineering calculations and analysis related to grading, drainage, stormwater management, utility systems, and roadway design
- Coordinate with internal disciplines and external agencies to support project delivery and regulatory compliance
Construction Administration
- Support construction‑phase services for municipal projects, including submittal review, RFIs, field observations, contractor coordination, and documentation of field conditions
- Assist in evaluating field issues and recommending practical solutions in coordination with senior engineers and municipal clients
- Contribute to project closeout activities and help ensure construction aligns with approved plans and specifications
Team Collaboration & Development
- Work closely with experienced engineers and municipal professionals in a collaborative environment that supports continued technical and professional growth
- Take increasing ownership of assignments while receiving mentorship aligned with internal advancement and PE‑track development
- Participate in professional development initiatives and contribute to a team culture focused on quality, responsiveness, and long‑term client relationships
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
- 2–5 years of relevant experience in civil, municipal, or site/infrastructure engineering
- Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) certification required
- Demonstrated progress toward Professional Engineer (PE) licensure, with the goal of obtaining licensure within approximately 6–12 months
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including comfort participating in or supporting public meetings and municipal coordination
- Ability to manage multiple assignments, work collaboratively, and contribute effectively in a client‑service environment
- Experience reviewing or designing projects involving municipal infrastructure, transportation, stormwater, water/wastewater, or land development
- Familiarity with municipal ordinances, board review processes, and public‑sector project delivery
- Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D or similar engineering software
- Working knowledge of NJDEP, NJDOT, and/or local municipal standards and permitting processes
