Property Controller for Commercial, Office and Warehouse Properties
Job Description – Private and established commercial/industrial real estate firm seeking a detail-oriented property controller. The selected candidate will be joining a small loyal team atmosphere and needs in depth knowledge of real estate financial transactions. Hired candidate will have a minimum of 7 years financial experience and ability to work well both independently and as a team. Highly motivated individual with a strong sense of urgency and rigorous attention to detail to meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills needed; able to multi-task, perform effectively under pressure, taking ownership of responsibilities from A to Z.
- Perform reviews of expense coding, tax packages, and journal entries as necessary on an accrual and cash basis.
- Provide ad-hoc requests and research questions in a timely manner.
- Quarterly and annual utility and CAM reconciliations, 1099 reporting, tax accounting financials; closing of general ledgers.
- Entity tax return auditing, software updating and filing.
- Collaborate on lease administration and follow up with owner, vendor, or tenant.
- Provide insight and guidance on how technology can be utilized to enhance management and financial reporting.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Finance or related field. MBA is a plus, CPA is a major plus. Experience working with an ERP system, Yardi, Sage or MRI is a plus. Strong Excel and lease abstracting, and tax filing preparation skills needed.
Experience working with real estate tax transactions and reviewing Form 1065 and 1120s along with Schedule K-1 is a plus.
Compensation based on experience.
