Job Title
Responsible for advocacy, outreach and communications to state elected officials across several states and within a specific ISO/RTO regions
Execute political and relationship strategy at direction of Sr. VP and Sr. Director Educate lawmakers on critical policies and proposals that advance the electric energy industry; garner support for company positions Represent the company at national policy, political and trade associations
• Direct lobby responsibility for state legislative activities on behalf of the company. Assist in federal and local lobbying as needed
• Oversee team of external consultants that will assist in advocating issues on behalf of the company; manage and maintain accountability; educate on key issues
• Collaborate across company divisions to help determine strategy, input on policy positions, and resource priorities
• Serve as the liaison between Vistra and certain policy and political trade associations; represent company's views and forge consensus on key issues. Secure leadership roles and executive speaking engagements
• Manage administrative lobby and compliance activities; adhere to reporting and ethics requirements under state and federal laws.
• Support the goals and activities of the Political Action Committees
Education, Experience, & Skill Requirements• Experienced gained through college degree programs and or certifications and five years of government relations experience; prior employment in electric industry is strongly considered. In addition, work related experience as a legislative staffer and/or public policy role is a plus
• Excellent written and oral communications necessary
• Ability to travel 50% across multiple states especially during legislative sessions
• Passage or defeat of priority state legislation along with support or opposition of administrative or executive branch initiatives
• Advance political relationships on behalf of the company
• Educate newly elected officials; conduct tours and oversee company visits
• Represent the company at fundraising events; coordinate with PAC members and assist in PAC fundraising events
• Track interim and regular legislative session initiatives; determine engagement levels, work to determine policy positions with regular reporting into SVP and company leadership
• Conduct coordination with electric industry on policy and issue campaign activities; lead on certain issues in specific states Range: $137,700 - $246,100
