The Infrastructure & Middleware Engineer is the operational backbone of Clinical Informatics Services. In this role, your primary focus is Dev Ops excellence: automating infrastructure provisioning, ensuring high availability, and optimizing deployment pipelines.
You will champion Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices and ensure our teams can deploy software efficiently and reliably.
Responsibilities- Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Lead the design and management of AWS resources using Terraform, ensuring all environments are reproducible and version‑controlled.
- CI/CD & Release Engineering: Own the automated build and release pipelines, optimizing them for speed and reliability to support rapid development cycles.
- System Monitoring & Observability: Build comprehensive Grafana dashboards and alert systems to monitor infrastructure health, focusing on proactive issue detection rather than reactive fixing.
- Container Orchestration: Manage and scale Kubernetes clusters and Dockerized applications, ensuring efficient resource utilization and uptime.
- Automation Scripting: Automate manual operational tasks (backups, patching, log rotation).
- Middleware Development: Develop and maintain Python‑based middleware services as needed to ensure data flows correctly between internal components.
- Database Reliability: ensure the stability, security, and performance of data storage systems (Mongo
DB, RDS), handling backups and disaster recovery planning.
- Dev Ops Mindset: You view operations as a software problem, preferring code‑based solutions (IaC) over manual configuration.
- Operational Stability: You prioritize uptime, security, and scalability above all else.
- Python Proficiency: You are comfortable writing production‑level Python code, not just for scripts, but for backend services when required.
- Root Cause Analysis: You excel at debugging complex infrastructure incidents, analyzing logs, and implementing long‑term fixes.
- Mid‑Level Autonomy: You can independently scope and execute infrastructure projects (e.g., "Migrate this service to Kubernetes") with minimal hand‑holding.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Experience:
- 3–5 years of professional experience in Dev Ops practice
- 2+ years of specific experience with Terraform in a production AWS environment.
- 3+ years of Python scripting and development experience.
- Technical Stack Proficiency:
- Core Dev Ops: Terraform (Must Have), Github Actions, AWS, Kubernetes, and Docker.
- Monitoring: Grafana, Prometheus, or Cloud Watch.
- Languages: Python (Required).
- Databases: Mongo
DB, SQL, or similar technologies.
