Injection Moulding Process Technician IV / Process Engineer Company Overview

Role Overview

This position is responsible for setting up, qualifying, troubleshooting, and optimising injection moulding processes to ensure consistent production quality.

You will work closely with production, quality, and tooling teams to evaluate and improve process performance, ensuring all outputs meet customer specifications and internal standards.

This role requires a proactive, self-sufficient individual who can operate independently while contributing to a high-performance manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Interpret specifications, material data sheets, and process guidelines to establish optimal machine setup conditions
  • Set and monitor machine parameters including temperature, pressure, cycle time, and material volume
  • Start and troubleshoot moulding processes to achieve production readiness
  • Inspect sample parts for visual and dimensional defects using precision measuring equipment (e.g. micrometers, gauges, microscopes)
  • Adjust process settings to resolve defects and ensure compliance with customer requirements
  • Qualify new and transferred tooling using structured validation methods (e.g. scientific moulding techniques)
  • Submit production samples for quality approval and implement corrective actions based on feedback
  • Create and maintain accurate setup sheets and process documentation (including digital records)
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities within processes and work cells
  • Perform mould changes, including multi-insert setups
  • Conduct routine mould cleaning, lubrication, and preventative maintenance
  • Collaborate with tooling teams on maintenance and optimisation activities
  • Support maintenance of machines and auxiliary equipment as required
  • Provide coverage for supervisory duties when needed
  • Assist in other operational roles (e.g. setup, materials handling) as required
Qualifications & Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Minimum of 4+ years’ experience in injection moulding (setup, processing, troubleshooting)
  • Strong understanding of plastics materials and moulding processes
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, drawings, and process instructions
  • Comfortable producing basic reports and communicating with cross-functional teams
  • Solid mathematical skills (including basic algebra and geometry)
  • Strong problem-solving ability in a manufacturing environment with variable conditions
  • Proficient in using measurement equipment and process monitoring tools
Physical & Work Environment
  • Regular standing, walking, and use of hands for handling tools and equipment
  • Occasional lifting up to 100 lbs
  • Exposure to a manufacturing environment with elevated noise levels
  • Tasks may involve bending, lifting, climbing, and operating machinery
Compliance Requirements
