Position: Lead, Material Handler 3 - Wed - Sat (Days)

Job Description

Responsible for providing direction to forklift operators, training, assigning work, and resolving problems within area of responsibility. Operates gasoline-, liquefied gas-, or electric-powered industrial equipment equipped with lifting devices, such as sit-down, stand-up, clamp or other elevating equipment to push, pull, lift, stack, tier, or move products, equipment, or materials from rail cars in distribution center or storage yard.

Responsibilities
  • Supports and trains newly hired forklift operators within their area of responsibility.
  • Assists supervisors and management of the facility in planning, assigning, and directing work.
  • Loads, unloads, moves, stocks, and stages products and materials using powered industrial equipment.
  • Maintains equipment and materials in a neat, clean, and orderly fashion; inspects assigned equipment daily and operates all equipment safely and efficiently following prescribed work methods and OSHA standards.
  • Unloads inbound shipments safely and moves product to storage locations; efficiently stacks and stores product in appropriate areas.
  • Pulls and prepares products for shipment, ensuring the exact number and types of products are loaded and shipped.
  • Efficiently moves product from staging and/or storage areas into rail cars, trailers, or containers.
  • Ensures inbound and outbound shipments are accurate and free of damage, reporting quality variances.
  • Inventories materials on the work floor and supplies workers with materials as needed.
  • Follows customer requirements and other instructions to ensure accuracy: load count, stability of product, and that all products are loaded and unloaded safely.
  • Coordinates with other departments/functions, especially Customer Service, Transportation and Maintenance.
  • Performs good housekeeping practices and uses a clean-as-you-go process.
  • Conducts operations and equipment in a manner that promotes safety and reports unsafe conditions that cannot be self-corrected to the leadership team.
  • Follows corporate and site-specific Good Manufacturing Practices and reports noncompliance when observed.
  • Observes all company safety rules and assists in enforcement as appropriate.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Schedule

Wednesday - Saturday: 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM

Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED; one or more years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Forklift operator with rail-specific experience.
  • Ability to successfully complete post-hire assessments.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain equipment certifications (e.g., OSHA, company, etc.).
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment appropriate for the work environment (e.g., protective footwear, protective eyewear, gloves, etc.) in accordance with safety policies.
