Job Overview:
Looking for a Psychiatric Advanced Practice Nurse to join our dynamic Behavioral Health Team at the Center for Behavioral Wellness (Outpatient practice).
The APN provides psychiatric services for psychiatric patients within a psychosocial milieu. The APN is inclusive of the principles of evidence-based practice by maintaining an individual level of knowledge and experience and assuming responsibility for advancing knowledge utilizing available resource persons and programs.
Required Licenses and
Certifications:
- Current NJ APN license
- NP Certification
- CDS required
- DEA required
- RN required
- BLS required
Scheduling Requirements:
- Day Shift
- 40hrs
- 4-5 days/week
Essential Functions
- Comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, intakes, consults or may maintain a case load and all pertinent clinical documentation
- Responsible for knowledge of the patient population served and assures awareness of ethical standards of practice as defined by the ANA code of ethics
- Ensures safety in practice and is inclusive of the principles of evidence based practice by maintaining a realization of own individual level of knowledge and experience and assumes responsibility for advancing knowledge of self and others of the patient care team by communication with and utilizing resource persons and programs available
- Provides an advanced level of nursing care based upon graduate education and broad experience with behavioral health patients and their families
- Practices in collaboration with the physicians, clinicians, case managers and other health care professionals
- Conforms to the guidelines set by the NJ Board of Nursing, NJSA 13:37 for the regulation of nurses in advanced practice as Nurse Practitioners
- Responsible for performing duties independently following established and standardized procedures and methods, referring questionable situations to physician
- Provides behavioral health care through assessment, diagnosis, treatment, clinical judgment and management to restore, maintain and improve the health status of patients
