Responsible for locating affordable, permanent housing opportunities for clients. Developing a resource guide, seeking housing resources and forming reputable relationships with housing providers to secure affordable permanent housing, and work to rectify tenant-landlord issues to assist clients in maintaining permanent housing.
SCOPE OF DUTIES:
- Work with landlords, county boards of social services, local realtors, housing authorities and other subsidized apartment complexes to identify housing opportunities and resources.
- Maintain regular contact with clients and resources.
- Participate in arbitration with landlord and client to resolve disputes and if all parties are not able to reach an amicable resolution, assist with client relocation.
- Communicate with the case manager assigned to follow the client and/or family as needed even after the client has been placed in permanent housing to reduce the likelihood of homelessness.
- Work with impact teams, case managers, social service agencies and community partners to identify and resolve the barriers for obtaining and maintaining permanent housing.
- Develop and maintain positive relationship with community resources, including service providers and planning bodies, elected officials, civic and religious associations.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, participating in professional affiliations.
- Coordinate efforts with county and all other organizations who are working toward permanent placement of homeless individuals and/or families.
- Complete reports and/or data collection as required by funding sources and agency requirements.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records indicating services provided and progress made for clients.
- Facilitate information sharing documentation such as ‘Rent Smart” Financial Smart with clients surrounding the goals of housing and financial stability.
- Interact with all clients, staff, and outside contacts with respect and courtesy. Interact and communicate (verbally and non-verbally) with all clients, staff, and outside contacts professionally with respect and courtesy.
- Maintain client and staff confidentiality in compliance with administrative policies and procedures.
- Attend and participate in regularly scheduled staff meetings, supervisory conferences, training sessions and meetings as required.
ADA ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Ability to climb stairs and walk perimeter of facility.
- Ability to lift 20 pounds at least.
- Ability to see 20 ft.
Communication
Expert
Education RequiredBachelors or better in Human Services or related field.
Experience RequiredBachelor's degree or 5 years experience in a related field or human services. The position requires demonstrated ability and mastery of the following skills: verbal and nonverbal communication, interpersonal, skills and knowledge of the homeless population and the housing industry.
