Mental Health Specialist II; Spanish

Overview

Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care (UBHC), established in 1971, provides a full continuum of evidence‑based behavioral health and addiction services for children, adolescents, adults, and seniors throughout New Jersey. With 1,060 staff and 15 sites across the state, UBHC offers inpatient, outpatient, partial hospitalization, crisis stabilization, family and caregiver support, community outreach, case management, supportive housing, supported employment, and a therapeutic school from preschool through high school.

• Interact with the supervisor regarding duties and assignments for each shift.
• Provide customer‑friendly services, demonstrating empathy and concern while engaging service users.
• Offer direct care services consistent with UBHC’s philosophy.
• Review service requests and referrals for all populations, responding in accordance with departmental procedures.
• Document contacts, interventions, and interactions with callers in a timely manner following established policies.
• Maintain knowledge of relevant policies and procedures.
• Participate in the unit’s mission by providing person‑centered, culturally competent care to individuals contacting the call center.

• Four (4) years of relevant full‑time paid experience or a bachelor’s degree in a relevant mental health, social, or human services field.

• If holding a Social Work degree, possess an active New Jersey certification/licensure as required by the State Board of Social Work.

• Use a computer to record services and perform basic office functions.
• Work independently and as part of a team.
• Fluency in Spanish (required).

• Standing, sitting, walking, talking, or hearing.
• No special vision requirements.
• Office environment.
• Moderate noise level.

• May be required to work nights and weekends.
