Bilingual aides provide academic support for students in the classroom and assist school staff in communication with English Learners, parents and other support services.
Qualifications- Associate’s degree preferred
- Individuals who can fluently translate in Nepali, Somali, or Spanish preferred
- License or permit issued by ODE
- Native speaker fluency in another language that meets the needs of the district’s English Learners, as determined by the Supervisor of Pupil Services
- Fluency in English as determined by state requirements and local board policy
- Experience as an educational aide or in the education field preferred
- Consistent requirements to lift, carry, push and pull various supplies and/or equipment up to a maximum of 50 pounds
- Willing to help instill in students the belief in and practice of ethical principles and democratic values
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications, as the Superintendent and/or Board of Education may find appropriate
- Frequent work that may extend beyond the normal workday
- Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids and tissue
- Occasional operation of a vehicle under inclement weather conditions
- Occasional interaction among unruly children/adults
- Many situations that require hand motion, e.g., computer keyboard, typing and writing
- Consistent requirements to sit, stand, walk, hear, see, read, speak, reach, stretch with hands and arms, crouch, kneel, climb and stoop
Performance of these responsibilities will be evaluated annually by the Building Principal and the Supervisor of Pupil Services.
