Job Goal

Provide psycho-educational services/evaluations to individual students, and consultation to parents/staff/administrators regarding behavior and learning concerns for students.

Qualifications

Licensed to practice School Psychology in the state of Ohio Educational Specialist (Ed.S) in School Psychology preferred Acts according to the Licensure Code of Professional Conduct for Ohio Educators. Embraces high-performance standards (e.g., engagement, proficiency, resilience, etc.) Holds/maintains required Ohio Department of Education credentials. Maintains a record free of criminal violations that prohibit public school employment.

Performance Responsibilities

1. Ensure the safety of students.
2. Provide intensive psycho-educational evaluation of individual children identified as, or thought to have an educational disability.
3. Coordinate the written report of the evaluation team.
4. Provide the results of psycho-educational evaluation for consideration in the development of IEP's for each student with a disability
5. Consult with teachers, parents and other educational personnel in matters relating to the education and/or mental health of students identified or suspected of having an educational disability.
6. Counsel individually and in groups with identified students in areas related to their educational disability.
7. Maintain records on all students served.
8. Evaluate intellectual, social, academic and adaptive behavior of children referred.
9. Participate in the identification and make recommendations during IEP development of students who are initially identified as a student with a disability. 10. Maintain clear and written reports. 11. Recommend appropriate classroom management strategies for behavior management with guidance counselors. 12. Develop Functional Behavior Assessments and assist the intervention specialist to develop Behavior Improvement Plans. 13. Schedule meetings with parents as necessary.

14. Make contacts with the public with tact and diplomacy. 15. Maintain respect at all times for confidential information, e.g. results of evaluation and resulting reports, as well as information disclosed by parent/teacher/outside resources. 16. Interact in a positive manner with staff, students and parents. 17. Promote good public relations through personal appearance, attitude and conversation. 18. Attend meetings and in-services as required.
