We are seeking a dedicated Title 1 Paraprofessional to join our team and provide vital support to our teachers and students. Funded by the federal government, Title 1 programs aim to bridge the achievement gap for students. In this role, you will work directly with a qualified teacher to create a positive and productive learning environment. You'll provide individualized and small group instruction to support students' academic achievement.

Ideal candidate will have the ability to communicate and collaborate effectively, skilled at working with small groups of students using literacy strategies aligned with best practices.

Position: Title I Paraprofessional(potential vacancy)
Location: Etna Elementary & Kirkersville Elementary
Reports to: Assigned administrator/supervisor
Salary: Based on the negotiated agreement

Job Goal: To work with one or groups of students daily using the instructional strategies of the classroom teacher to assist in the instruction of reading, writing and mathematics.

Qualifications:

• Have obtained at least an associate's degree or completed two (2) years of study at an institution of higher education; or
• Met a rigorous standard of quality and demonstrates through formal State or local academic assessment:
  • Knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing, reading, writing and mathematics; or
  • Knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing, reading readiness and mathematics readiness, as appropriate.
• Valid ESEA qualified Educational Aide certificate as issued by the Ohio Department of Education
• High school graduate
• Ability to communicate with others
• Ability to maintain supervision over students
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the board my find appropriate and acceptable.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide one-on-one tutoring for eligible students during times when the teacher would not otherwise be instructing the student
• Assist with classroom management, such as organizing instructional and other materials
• Provide support in a library or media center
• Act as a translator
• Provide instructional services to students, if working under the direct supervision of a teacher; a paraprofessional will be considered to be working under the "direct supervision" of a teacher if the:
  • Teacher plans the instructional activities that the paraprofessional carries out;
  • Teacher evaluates the achievement of the students with whom the paraprofessional is working;
  • Paraprofessional works in close and frequent proximity to the teacher
• Performing limited duties beyond classroom instruction or that do not benefit program participants, so long as those duties are also assigned to non-Title I paraprofessionals.
