Job SummaryWe are seeking Field Quality Technicians to join our new factory in Columbus, Ohio. This role is responsible for providing on-site customer support, system performance monitoring, site inspection and repair, and field failure diagnostics to ensure PV module reliability and high levels of customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities- Customer Operation Support
- Assist customers with on-site technical support, including troubleshooting and corrective actions required.
- Support warranty claims by identifying warranty related issues and preparing accurate technical documentation and field evidence.
- Communicate field issues, investigation results, and customer feedback to factory quality and engineering teams in a timely manner.
- Field Monitoring and Diagnostics
- Monitor PV system performance using site operational data, I–V curve tracing, thermal imaging inspections, and other field diagnostics tests.
- Identify degradation trends and early indicators of failure, including hotspots, potential induced degradation (PID), and abnormal power loss.
- Analyze performance metrics such as Performance Ratio (PR) and specific yield to support timely corrective and preventive actions.
- Site Inspection & Repair
- Conduct structured site inspections using approved checklists and sampling plans.
- Inspect mechanical installation, including clamping, torque, tracker interaction.
- Perform minor field repairs or coordinate module replacement when necessary.
- Ensure all work complies with site EHS and electrical safety requirements.
- Field Failure Diagnostics
- Perform root cause diagnostics using IV curve analysis, insulation resistance testing, thermal imaging, visual and connector inspections.
- Identify failure modes and correlate to manufacturing, logistics, or site conditions.
- Prepare detailed investigation and RCA (Root Cause Analysis) reports with photos and test results.
- Recommend corrective and preventive actions to quality and engineering teams.
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, renewable energy, or a related field preferred.
- 2–5 years of experience in PV field service, quality, or O&M (Operation & Maintenance).
- Strong understanding of PV systems, modules, and site safety requirements.
- Willingness to travel frequently to customer sites.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Professional customer-facing communication skills.
- Ability to work independently in field environments.
- Proficiency with field diagnostic tools, including IV tracer, IR camera, and insulation tester.
