We're seeking an experienced Data Center Operations Engineer to support and maintain all physical and environmental aspects of our data center in Etna, Ohio. This role requires deep hands‑on experience with power, cooling, hardware, monitoring tools, and operational best practices. You'll work independently to troubleshoot issues, perform hardware installs, optimize the environment, and ensure the data center operates efficiently and securely at all times.
CoreResponsibilities Data Center Operations
- Oversee daily operations of a mission‑critical data center environment.
- Perform hardware installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and decommissioning.
- Ensure physical infrastructure meets uptime, performance, and security standards.
- Maintain and troubleshoot UPS systems, cooling systems, HVAC, and aisle containment.
- Monitor and optimize power distribution and redundancy.
- Respond to environmental alerts and perform root‑cause analysis.
- Use Site Scan and other DC monitoring tools to track environmental and operational health.
- Interpret alerts, respond to incidents, and maintain system stability.
- Support basic network troubleshooting: switches, routers, cabling, and connectivity.
- Coordinate with networking teams on escalations as needed.
- Maintain documentation, logs, and inventory.
- Follow established SOPs and contribute to continuous improvement.
- Participate in on‑call rotation and occasional weekend work.
- 5+ years experience in data center operations or similar technical role.
- Hands‑on experience with server/storage hardware installation and troubleshooting.
- Strong understanding of power, cooling, HVAC, and UPS systems.
- In‑depth knowledge of Site Scan and other monitoring platforms.
- Familiarity with network hardware and basic network protocols.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and pressure‑handling skills.
- Clear communication and ability to work both independently and in a team.
- Availability for on‑call and occasional weekend support.
- Certifications such as CompTIA Server+ or equivalent.
- Experience with virtualization (VMware, Hyper‑V) or cloud environments.
- Knowledge of industry standards such as TIA‑942 and ASHRAE.
- Experience supporting IT in retail environments.
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Pataskala, OH.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $50.00 - $60.00/hr.
