Job Overview
Illuminate USA, a joint venture in Central Ohio, seeks a Material Control Specialist to manage material resources for solar panel manufacturing. The role focuses on demand planning, inventory control, procurement, cost management, and cross‑functional collaboration to ensure efficient production.
Key Responsibilities- Develop annual material budget based on production requirements and financial targets.
- Use ERP systems to generate the Material Resource Plan (MRP) for material requests and procurement.
- Ensure timely and accurate purchase requisition requests in alignment with production schedules.
- Maintain strict control over safety stock levels to ensure production continuity.
- Monitor and improve inventory turnover rate while ensuring accurate warehouse accounting and materials tracking.
- Coordinate with the Logistics team to manage incoming material and keep inventory levels optimal.
- Implement cost control strategies to keep material costs within the allocated budget and provide analysis and recommendations.
- Collaborate with project management, procurement, production, and other functions to resolve material‑related issues and align planning with broader project timelines.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of experience in material control, inventory management, or supply chain management in a manufacturing environment (solar or renewable energy preferred).
- Experience using MRP or ERP systems.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.) and ERP systems.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, organizational, and time‑management skills.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across cross‑functional teams.
- Knowledge of inventory turnover, safety stock principles, warehouse management, and material tracking systems.
- Bilingual in English and Chinese (Mandarin) is required for meetings and calls in both languages.
- Willingness and ability to participate in evening calls or meetings with suppliers and partners in Asia.
- Strong ownership and accountability for ensuring effective material management.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple tasks and priorities.
- Strong knowledge of MRP systems and processes.
- Experience in cost‑saving initiatives and budget management for materials.
