Job Description
This role offers an opportunity for an experienced phlebotomist to work in a patient service center, performing blood draws for a diverse patient population. You will use primarily straight needles and butterfly needles for more challenging venipunctures, while maintaining a strong focus on accuracy, patient comfort, and administrative precision. This position is ideal for professionals who enjoy variety, in-state travel, and a dynamic clinical setting.
Responsibilities
+ Perform blood draws using straight needles for the majority of collections, ensuring safe and accurate venipuncture.
+ Use butterfly needles for difficult or hard-stick patients to ensure successful and comfortable blood collection.
+ Draw blood from a variety of patient populations, including adults and pediatric patients, with infant draws considered a plus.
+ Work in a patient service center environment, providing professional and courteous service to all patients.
+ Label, handle, and process blood specimens accurately to support timely and reliable laboratory testing.
+ Follow all established protocols and procedures to maintain patient safety and specimen integrity.
+ Maintain detailed and accurate documentation and administrative records related to blood draws and specimen processing.
+ Demonstrate strong attention to detail in all aspects of phlebotomy and administrative tasks.
+ Communicate effectively with patients in both English and Spanish, explaining procedures and addressing questions or concerns.
+ Support a clean, organized, and efficient work area within the patient service center.
+ Adapt to changes in daily assignments and locations as needed, including in-state travel when required.
Essential Skills
+ At least 3 years of experience drawing blood in a clinical or patient service center setting.
+ Proficiency in phlebotomy techniques, including venipuncture with straight needles.
+ Ability to use butterfly needles effectively for hard-stick or challenging blood draws.
+ Experience drawing blood from pediatric patients; infant blood draw experience is a plus.
+ Strong administrative skills, including accurate documentation and record-keeping.
+ High level of attention to detail in specimen labeling, handling, and processing.
+ Fluency in Spanish and English to support bilingual patient communication.
+ Ability to work independently in a fast-paced patient service environment.
+ Commitment to patient care, comfort, and safety during all blood draw procedures.

+ Comfort with in-state travel and working in different locations as needed.

+ Demonstrated reliability and professionalism in a healthcare environment.
Work Environment
This role is based in a patient service center where phlebotomists perform blood draws for a range of patient populations, including adults and children. The schedule includes Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Tuesday from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., and every other Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The position does not include holiday or vacation work requirements.
You will work with standard phlebotomy equipment such as straight needles and butterfly needles in a clinical environment that prioritizes patient safety, cleanliness, and efficiency. The role may involve in-state travel, providing variety in work locations while maintaining a consistent, professional healthcare setting.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Patchogue, NY.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $23.00/hr.
