Job Description SummaryWe are seeking an Associate Manager, Accounting to oversee day-to-day accounting operations and financial reporting. This role will be a key contributor to month‑end close, reconciliations, payroll, 401(k) and compliance related activities. The ideal candidate has strong hands‑on skills in Excel and Google Sheets for reporting and analysis, is detail oriented along with experience in full‑cycle accounting functions.
Key Responsibilities- Accounting Operations
- Manage daily accounting activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, payroll, sales commissions, general ledger, R&D capitalization, 1099s and reconciliations.
- Support month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end close processes with accurate journal entries and reconciliations.
- Maintain compliance with GAAP, IFRS and internal accounting policies.
- Identify process improvements and contribute to strengthening internal controls.
- Prepare and review financial reports and schedules in Excel/Google Sheets, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Perform variance analysis and identify trends in revenue, expenses, and key financial metrics.
- Work closely with AR and AP associates to ensure smooth financial operations.
- Payroll & Compliance
- Assist with collecting and setting up data to prepare and process semi‑monthly payroll including expense reimbursements, bonuses, deductions, 401(k) contributions and prepare related payroll journal entries.
- Own employee onboarding into the payroll system as well as terminations and ensuring all proper documentation is in place.
- Calculate and report sales commissions accurately and liaise with employees for clarifications.
- Support external audits, tax filings, and compliance documentation.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 7–10 years of progressive accounting/finance experience (SaaS/technology industry experience a plus).
- Hands‑on expertise in Excel and Google Sheets (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, advanced formulas, dashboards).
- Familiarity with accounting software (Quick Books, Netsuite or similar).
- Solid understanding of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational, and analytical skills.
- Ability to communicate clearly and work effectively.
- Flexibility to work remotely, if preferred.
