Director of Tax & Accounting

CBIZ Talent Solutions is seeking a Senior Manager/Director of Tax & Accounting.

A sophisticated single-family office is seeking a Senior Manager/Director, Family Office Tax & Accounting
. This individual will serve as a key resource across tax, accounting, and financial matters for a complex portfolio of trusts, partnerships, operating entities, real estate investments, and other family holdings.

This is a highly visible role that requires a strong blend of tax expertise and accounting knowledge. The successful candidate will oversee and review tax work prepared by external advisors, provide strategic tax guidance, evaluate planning opportunities, and ensure that tax reporting is appropriately aligned with the underlying books and records.

The ideal candidate understands both the technical tax implications and the accounting treatment of complex transactions. They will serve as a trusted partner to the Controller and work closely with external CPA firms, attorneys, investment professionals, and family office leadership.

• Serve as the primary internal liaison with external tax advisors and accounting firms.
• Review and analyze tax returns prepared by outside providers, including but not limited to 1065, 1041, and 1040 returns.
• Evaluate tax filings for accuracy, consistency, and planning opportunities.
• Provide strategic tax guidance and recommendations related to trusts, partnerships, real estate investments, operating entities, and individual tax matters.
• Identify opportunities to optimize tax efficiency across the family office structure.
• Monitor tax law developments and advise leadership on potential impacts and opportunities.
• Oversee accounting and financial reporting for various family office entities, trusts, partnerships, and investment structures.
• Review financial statements, account reconciliations, journal entries, and supporting schedules.
• Ensure tax reporting is appropriately supported by accurate books and records.
• Assist in evaluating accounting treatment for complex transactions, ownership changes, and special projects, including the organization's ESOP structure.
• Review accounting and reporting for investment partnerships and entities with significant K-1 activity.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or a related discipline.
• CPA strongly preferred.
• 8+ years of progressive experience in public accounting, family office, private client services, investment accounting, or a related environment.
• Ability to provide tax strategy and planning recommendations while understanding the underlying accounting impact.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with external advisors and stakeholders.
• High degree of professionalism, discretion, and attention to confidentiality.
