Regulatory Specialist

Work Location: Middlesex County, New Jersey

The Regulatory Specialist is responsible for supporting regulatory activities related to raw materials, including flavors, fragrances, and cosmetic ingredients. This role involves interpreting and maintaining compliance with global regulations, managing documentation, and collaborating with internal and external partners to ensure regulatory standards are met.

• Participate in regulatory inquiries and projects, ensuring timely and accurate responses to internal and external requests.
• Review and interpret supplier-provided raw material documentation to ensure compliance with global regulatory requirements.
• Maintain and update regulatory documentation and certifications, including Kosher, Halal, Organic, and RSPO, to support audits and compliance efforts.
• Accurately enter and manage raw material information in relevant systems and databases.
• Monitor and assess the global legality status of raw materials, providing updates on regulatory changes and potential risks.
• Stay informed on current industry, governmental, and NGO issues impacting raw material regulations.
• Utilize automated programs and proprietary software for ingredient statements, allergen screening, and hazard reviews.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external vendors to support regulatory initiatives and new projects.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Nutrition, or a related science with a minimum of 2 years of regulatory or related industry experience; or a Bachelor’s Degree (non-technical) with a minimum of 5 years of regulatory or related industry experience.
• Technical knowledge in food, flavors, fragrance, or cosmetic sciences and associated regulations.
• Ability to review, analyze, and interpret governmental regulations, professional journals, technical procedures, and business documents.
• Detail-oriented with strong analytical, project management, and presentation skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build strong working relationships internally and externally.
• Experience working in cross-functional teams.
• Advanced technical degrees (MS, MBA) are preferred.
• Demonstrated project management and risk assessment experience is preferred.
• Active membership and participation in industry organizations (such as FEMA, IFT, FCA, IFRA, PCPC) is a plus.
