Responsibilities
  • Participated in the renovation and new construction projects concerning the design of school & support facilities to ensure maximum resource efficiency and sustainable building practices. Assist in ensuring that air conditioning conversion projects provide the most cost-effective and environmentally designed construction. Optimizes the use of centralized energy & water control systems and real-time monitoring of these utilities.
  • Work closely with the project manager and assist with managing team goals, schedules, project timelines, and new information.
  • Be familiar and demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of the status of the projects under the coordinator's control.
  • Coordinate, plan, schedule, and track projects and materials delivery
  • Monitor the project process and bring issues that may arise to the attention of the project manager
  • Manage project-related paperwork by ensuring all necessary materials are current, properly filed, and stored
  • Communicate with architects, contractors, administrators, and other stakeholders to identify and define project requirements, scope, and objectives.
  • Attend project planning and coordination meetings.
  • Disseminate project correspondences by reviewing project proposals, memos, and emails.
  • Experience with bidding, contract, and procurement practices.
  • Assist in managing third-party contracts and ensure compliance with specifications and terms.
  • Perform job functions in compliance with applicable regulations and protect staff health, safety, security, work-life quality, and the environment.
  • Have knowledge of building infrastructure maintenance, operation, and automation tools, including electrical, mechanical, HVAC life safety, and security systems.
  • Assist in implementing district-wide scheduled and preventative maintenance, energy accounting, and building monitoring systems.
  • Operate electronic and other equipment needed to carry out job functions and responsibilities
  • Maintain effective communications with students, staff, and parents to elicit support and seek perceptions and ideas for the improvement of the facilities.
  • Research and make recommendations for improvement in the effectiveness and efficiency of the repair, maintenance, and cleaning services so that attractive, healthy, and safe facilities are provided.
  • Attend required meetings and serve, as appropriate, on staff committees.
  • Understand and communicate current developments in the repair maintenance, and custodial areas through reading, participation in appropriate worships or meetings, and involvement in professional organizations.
  • Display the highest ethical and professional behavior in working with students, parents, school personnel, and outside agencies associated with the school. Serve as a role model for students and staff in demonstrating positive attitudes, appropriate attire and grooming, and a practical work ethic.
  • Protect the confidentiality of records and information about staff and use discretion when sharing such information within legal confines.
  • Observe strictly, to avoid the appearance of conflict, all requirements of the School Ethics Act (NJSA 18A:12-21 et seq.) regarding conflicts of interest in employment, purchasing, and other decisions, including solicitation and acceptance of gifts and favors, and submit in a timely fashion the required annual disclosure statement regarding employment and financial interests.
  • Adhere to federal statutes and regulations, New Jersey school law, construction codes, State Board of Education rules and regulations, Board of Education policies and procedures, and all contractual obligations.
  • Perform any duties and responsibilities that are within the scope of employment, as assigned by the Chief Operations Officer of Facilities, Maintenance, and Custodial Services and not otherwise prohibited by law or regulation.
  • Performs other duties as may be assigned.
  • May be required to work after hours, or on a flexible work schedule.
Qualifications
  • Have a BA/BS from an accredited college and minimum of two (2) years of related experience.
  • Have excellent leadership and organizational skills and the ability to motivate people.
  • Have excellent integrity and demonstrate good moral character and initiative.
  • Exhibit a personality that demonstrates interpersonal skills to relate well with students, especially in STEM programs, staff administration, parents, and the community.
  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively in English, orally in and in writing, using proper grammar and vocabulary.
  • Demonstrate using computers for word processing, data management, and telecommunications and be familiar with School Dude facility software.
