Job Description
The Junior Estimator will:
- Assist in the preparation of cost estimates for various construction projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and overhead.
- Review project plans and specifications to determine scope of work and materials required.
- Collaborate with project managers, subcontractors, and suppliers to gather pricing and resource information.
- Analyze historical data to develop cost projections and identify trends.
- Prepare detailed take-offs from drawings and plans using estimating software.
- Maintain organized records of estimates and bid proposals.
- Participate in bid meetings and provide support during the bidding process.
- Assist in preparing and submitting bid proposals to clients.
- Continuously seek to improve estimating processes and accuracy.
- Stay updated on industry trends, materials, and best practices.
The Successful Applicant
The Junior Estimator should have:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 1-2 years of experience in construction estimating or a related field preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word) and estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, Plan Swift, or similar).
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- A willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
