Passaic County is seeking a qualified inspector to fill the position of Bridge Construction Inspector within the Engineering Department. This position is responsible to inspect the replacement and repair of bridges, culverts and other related construction work within the County to ensure compliance of material, construction standards, and workmanship; and other related duties as required.
Examples of Work:- Inspect the repair and construction of bridges, culverts and other work to ensure that standards for materials and workmanship are met.
- Prepare inspection reports and maintain construction journal recording progress of projects.
- Prepare the agenda and meeting minutes for bi-weekly construction progress meetings. Facilitate the bi-weekly meeting.
- Check accuracy of contract plans and specifications.
- Discuss project schedules and material needs with contractors and suppliers.
- Maintain project records and files including shop drawing and RFI logs.
- Five (5) years of experience in the inspection of bridges to detect damage, need for repair, and to ensure conformance to safety regulations, and/or the inspection of bridge and culvert construction or repair work to ensure compliance with plans, specifications and standards of workmanship, and/or in the construction, repair, and maintenance of bridges and culverts.
- Knowledge of varied types of materials and equipment used for the construction of bridges and culverts.
- Knowledge of NJDOT design standards, specifications and standard construction details.
- Knowledge of methods used to inspect bridge construction work.
- Ability to read and interpret bridge and culvert construction plans and specifications.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to inspect multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to work harmoniously with others.
- Ability to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the agency, office, or related units.
Education:High School Diploma
Experience:5+ years of progressively responsible experience in bridge construction inspection
License:Driver's license valid in NJ
