Associate Designer (Product Dev & Technical) - This is a full-time position with a required 3-5 days in office (Manahawkin NJ). Regional NJ/PA/NY Applicants Only. Must be available to commute multiple times per week. Includes Health Insurance Plan, 401k Plan, Quarterly Jetty Apparel Allowance, & PTO Days (14).

Description

Core Responsibilities:

Design Support & Artwork

  • Partner with the Design & Brand Director to support the design process from concept to final execution, ensuring brand standards and timelines are met
  • Develop artwork and textile prints (all-over and engineered)
  • Collaborate with Design, Sales, Marketing, and Merchandising teams to align product with business strategy
  • Attend fittings, record feedback, and communicate updates clearly
  • Maintain daily communication with vendors to confirm sample timing and resolve fit, fabric, and construction issues
  • Create, update, and manage proto and SMS tech packs (graphic tees, outerwear, knits, wovens, etc.)
  • Produce detailed sketches and technical packages with clear specs, trims, materials, and construction methods

Product Development & Sample Management

  • Track and receive all seasonal development packages; communicate delivery status to the team
  • Manage samples (unboxing, QC, shipping/receiving, organizing)
  • Evaluate and approve or revise swatches, lab dips, prints, and trims
  • QC proto and SMS samples to ensure quality, fit, and construction standards are met

Process & Calendar Management

  • Maintain accurate product data — style numbers, fabric content, descriptions — in PLM system (Airtable)
  • Monitor development and production calendars to keep milestones on track
  • Ensure timely execution across design, development, and production phases (continued on next page)

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree in Apparel/Fashion Design, Technical Design, Product Development, or related field
  • 3–5 years of apparel industry experience
  • Knowledge of surfing, outdoor, fishing, or adventure markets
  • Expertise in apparel construction, garment analysis, and textile processes
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects in a fast‑paced environment
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong communicator and collaborative team player
  • Entrepreneurial, hands‑on mindset; willing to roll up sleeves, adapt quickly, and find creative solutions in a small‑team setting
  • Digital portfolio and resume required

Required Skills

  • Expert‑level Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop CC
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (or equivalent)
  • Airtable knowledge a plus
  • Strong knowledge of garment construction and manufacturing methods
  • Ability to assign points of measure, track fit progression, and ensure production QC standards
  • Problem‑solving skills with adaptability to change
  • Deadline‑driven with a strong sense of urgency
  • Ability to translate brand aesthetic into both technical and creative execution
  • Graphic Design Skills / Catalog:
    Assist in building men’s/accessories wholesale catalogs (InDesign) and seasonal line presentations; ensure products are merchandised cohesively and reflect brand vision
  • Stylized Flat Lays:
    Style apparel flats for product photography for catalog
  • Product Photography:
    Understand basic studio photography, including lighting, for visual presentations.
  • Lifestyle Photoshoot Support:
    Source inspiration, prepare outfits, coordinate with models, and support on‑set logistics for lifestyle photoshoots
  • Visual Layout:
    Help design catalog spreads and presentations, ensuring product information and visuals are clear, compelling, and on‑brand
