The Community Charter School of Paterson is seeking School Monitors to join our Middle School and Elementary Schools for the School Year.
Responsibilities- Student Supervision & Safety
- Monitor students during lunch, recess, arrival, dismissal, and transitions between classes.
- Ensure students follow school rules and engage in safe, respectful behavior.
- Assist students as needed, resolving minor issues and escalating concerns to appropriate staff.
- Support an efficient and orderly flow of student movement throughout the school.
- Lunch & Recess Management
- Supervise students during meals, ensuring a clean, respectful, and orderly environment.
- Assist with the cleanup of tables and surrounding areas, ensuring cleanliness.
- Oversee recess activities to promote safe and appropriate play.
- Dismissal & Transition Support
- Ensure students transition efficiently between classes and during dismissal.
- Assist with bus boarding and ensure students leave the building in an orderly manner.
- Additional Responsibilities
- Report serious infractions or safety concerns to school leadership.
- Provide support for school-wide events and activities as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned to ensure a safe and supportive school environment.
- Teach CCSP curriculum using textbooks and resources adopted by the Board of Trustees.
- Instruct students to master the New Jersey Student Learning Standards.
- Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and provide individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student with the support and guidance of the school leadership.
- Use a variety of instruction strategies, such as inquiry, group discussion, lecture, discovery, etc.
- Translate lesson plans into learning experiences to maximize instructional time.
- Establish and maintain standards of student behavior aligned with CCSP-established norms as needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
- Identify student needs and cooperate with other staff members in assessing and helping students and parents develop solutions to academic and non-academic challenges that may impact student achievement.
- Participate cooperatively in Professional Learning Communities with faculty, coaches, and school leadership.
- Create an effective learning environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, bulletin boards, and centers, aligned with CCSP school-wide norms.
- Evaluate students’ academic and social/emotional growth, maintain appropriate records, utilize student assessment data, and prepare progress reports and report cards.
- Communicate with parents through conferences, approved social media venues, phone calls, and other means to discuss students’ progress and interpret the school program.
- Maintain professional competence through school-based professional development and independent learning activities; actively participate in all CCSP-required professional development.
- Complete and submit required reports.
- Attend and participate in meetings as deemed necessary and consistent with the needs of CCSP.
- Perform other duties as assigned by CCSP leadership.
- Minimum of one year working with children or youth-serving organization.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to follow directions.
- Ability to keep accurate records and prepare reports.
- Available to work a flexible schedule that includes evenings and weekends.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Highly organized and motivated, self-starter and ability to work independently.
Employee benefits, including health benefits and PTO benefits are a valuable part of the total compensation package CCSP benefits package is subject to the terms outlined in the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) for members that are subject to the CBA. The benefits package for staff members that are not subject to the terms of the CBA is at the sole discretion of the Board of Trustees.
