College Achieve Public Schools Position Overview College Achieve Public Schools is seeking a dedicated and student-centered ELA Interventionist for an elementary school to provide targeted support for students who need additional instruction in reading. The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in reading development and intervention, and a passion for helping students build foundational literacy skills. This role is critical to ensuring that every scholar has the tools to succeed academically and thrive in a rigorous college-preparatory environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Observe and assess students in various instructional settings to evaluate reading abilities and instructional needs
- Conduct diagnostic assessments and analyze data to inform instruction and intervention strategies
- Design and implement individualized and small group intervention plans to support reading comprehension, phonics, fluency, and vocabulary
- Use evidence-based instructional strategies aligned with the Science of Reading and other best practices
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education staff, and administrators to align interventions with classroom instruction and goals
- Communicate student progress regularly with teachers, families, and administrators
- Provide one-on-one tutoring and small-group instruction as needed
- Facilitate group lessons for students with similar instructional needs
- Create engaging learning activities and materials tailored to diverse learners
- Support classroom instruction by modeling effective literacy strategies and coaching staff as needed
- Maintain accurate student records and progress monitoring documentation
- Participate in all professional development sessions and contribute to a collaborative school culture
- Perform additional duties as assigned by school leadership
Required Qualifications
- Valid New Jersey K6 Certification
- Reading Specialist/Reading Certification preferred
- Minimum of three years of job-related experience, such as classroom teaching or reading intervention
- Demonstrated knowledge of reading assessment tools and intervention programs
- Familiarity with structured literacy practices and differentiated instruction
- Must pass a criminal history background check and meet all state employment requirements

Evaluation
ELA Interventionists are evaluated annually based on student outcomes, instructional effectiveness, collaboration, and alignment with school and state literacy goals.
