Bearcat Buddies Tutoring Program

Federal Work Study eligible students will tutor Cincinnati Public School children in Math and Reading during the Academic Year . Tutors will earn $16.00 per hour and may receive transportation provided for selected schools. The program focuses on personalized tutoring and community engagement.

• Attendance:
  Attend all tutoring sessions throughout the semester.
• Setting Goals:
  Collaborate with students and teachers to set realistic academic goals and develop a plan to achieve them.

  Encourage and motivate students to build self‑confidence and reduce academic anxiety.

  Teach effective study habits, time management, and organizational skills that foster independent learning.
• Maintaining Communication:
  Keep open lines of communication with students and teachers.
• Fostering a Positive Relationship:
  Establish a trusting and supportive rapport with students to create a comfortable learning environment.

  Uphold professional standards in interactions with students, maintain punctuality, and handle issues with discretion and professionalism.

• Subject Knowledge:
  Understand the subject being taught to explain concepts clearly and answer questions accurately.

  Explain concepts in a clear, concise, and engaging manner, both verbally and in writing.

  Be patient and understanding, especially when students struggle with difficult concepts or need extra time to grasp material.

• This position will accept Federal Work Study students.
• Additional Science of Reading Training is required for Reading Coach positions.

• Transportation to selected schools is provided for free.
• You can select a school that offers remote opportunities (Cincinnati Digital Academy).
• Schools are within walking distance to campus.
