Description

The Community Charter School of Paterson is seeking a Leadership Fellow for the  School Year.

The Leadership Fellow is a junior school leadership role designed to develop emerging leaders through hands‑on training, coaching, and school-based leadership experiences. The Leadership Fellow works closely with School Leadership to support school culture, instructional systems, staff development, student support, and operational excellence while building foundational leadership competencies.

This role is intended to serve as a pipeline for future instructional and school leadership positions. The Leadership Fellow will gradually assume increased leadership responsibility through mentorship, observation, feedback cycles, and direct leadership opportunities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

School Culture & Student Support
  • Support School Leadership in establishing and maintaining a positive, structured, achievement‑oriented school culture
  • Assist with implementing school wide behavior systems and expectations
  • Build positive relationships with students to reinforce accountability and student growth
  • Support arrival, dismissal, transitions, lunch, and other key culture systems
  • Facilitate restorative conversations and student reflection processes when needed
  • Support behavior interventions and follow‑up systems for students requiring additional support
  • Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress, attendance, behavior, and support plans
  • Assist with family meetings alongside school leadership and teachers
Leadership Development
  • Participate in ongoing leadership coaching, mentorship, and professional development
  • Attend leadership meetings, training sessions, and instructional walkthroughs
  • Engage in reflective practice conversations with school leaders to strengthen leadership skills
  • Observe and analyze effective instructional and culture leadership practices
  • Support implementation of strategic school initiatives and organizational priorities
  • Develop foundational competencies in staff management, coaching, and school operations
Instructional & Staff Support
  • Collaborate with School Leadership and teachers to support strong instructional environments
  • Assist with walkthroughs and classroom observations focused on culture and engagement
  • Provide real‑time support and coaching reinforcement for classrooms needing additional assistance
  • Support staff accountability systems, including professionalism, student engagement, and classroom culture expectations
  • Assist with monitoring grade books, student data, and intervention implementation
  • Support academic intervention and enrichment initiatives
Operations & School Systems
  • Support school wide systems and operational procedures
  • Assist with event coordination, testing logistics, and school‑based initiatives
  • Help ensure consistent execution of school policies and procedures
  • Support communication systems between staff, students, and families
  • Assist with maintaining organized systems for documentation, follow‑up, and student support tracking
Family & Community Engagement
  • Build strong partnerships with families through proactive communication and support
  • Support family engagement initiatives and school events
  • Promote a welcoming and student‑centered school environment
  • Assist with responding to family concerns and ensuring timely follow‑up
Professional Expectations
  • Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and strong judgment
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all matters involving students and staff
  • Model the school’s core values and expectations consistently
  • Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to support evolving school needs
  • Other duties as assigned by School Leadership

Qualifications:

  • Conferred Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 preferred
  • Demonstrated leadership potential and commitment to education
  • Strong communication, professionalism, and organizational skills
  • Ability to build strong relationships with students, families, and staff
  • Holds a New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE) Supervisor or Principal Certificate
  • Spanish speaking is preferred but not a requirement

Employee benefits, including health benefits and PTO benefits are a valuable part of the total compensation package  CCSP benefits package is subject to the terms outlined in the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) for members that are subject to the CBA. The benefits package for staff members that are not subject to the terms of the CBA is at the sole discretion of the Board of Trustees.
