Job Description & How to Apply Below
Position: Reading Program Coordinator, Alpha - $120,000/year USD
  • $120,000/year salary, paid weekly, with health, dental, and vision coverage starting day one
  • On-campus position at one Alpha location:
    Beverly Hills, La Jolla (San Diego), Lake Forest (Orange County), Piedmont, San Francisco, Santa Barbara, or Santa Monica, CA;
    Greenwich, CT;
    Boca Raton, FL;
    Chicago, IL;
    Boston, MA; or New York City, NY (relocation assistance available)
  • 40 hours weekly, 100% classroom-based with K-3 students

Your structured-literacy certification — Orton-Gillingham, LETRS, Wilson, IMSE, or a Master's in reading instruction — has opened doors to every K-3 reading position you've pursued. In most of those roles, it also marked the limit: you executed an existing program and submitted reports. Here that credential is your entry point. If that difference resonates with you, continue reading.

Alpha has reimagined traditional instruction. Students complete academic content independently using AI-adaptive applications. No lectures, no textbooks, no pacing calendars. Your position represents the one area where human expertise cannot be replaced. You construct 20-minute small-group workshops using real-time application data; sessions are deliberately brief, because targeted instruction outperforms duration. You also facilitate motivation sessions that ensure 100% of your students reach their weekly app targets through Alpha's motivational framework (school currency, leaderboards, age-appropriate gamification).

You detect a student's miscue during a session, identify the phonemic deficit, and have the next day's workshop revised by day's end. That is the expectation.

Families at these locations have selected Alpha for results, not simply enrollment. Parents review weekly data on their child's reading development and they form opinions. You will field specific questions about individual student progress, and "they're doing fine" will not suffice. You will reference the running record, identify the phonemic gap, and describe your instructional response. That level of accountability should energize you, not burden you.

Your initial months focus on establishing credibility. Workshops must be engaging, differentiated, and demonstrably effective; student satisfaction and "love your Guide" survey results (target 90%+) provide direct measurement. Once you demonstrate success, your influence expands beyond your classroom: what proves effective with your students becomes the model other Alpha campuses replicate, and your diagnostic precision informs how reading instruction evolves as Alpha scales.

What you create here extends far beyond your immediate setting.

Before we extend an offer, you'll submit a short video delivering an engaging story for young children, and you'll complete a full day on campus working directly with K-3 students. Low energy with children will disqualify you, regardless of credential strength. That's intentional. Apply today.

What You Will Be Doing
  • Creating small-group K-3 reading workshops from live adaptive-app data, anchored in structured-literacy approaches (Orton-Gillingham, Wilson, LETRS, IMSE, or equivalent)
  • Conducting daily motivation sessions that ensure 100% of your students achieve their weekly app targets using Alpha's motivational model (school currency, leaderboards, age-appropriate gamification)
  • Analyzing AI-generated performance data (fluency curves, decoding accuracy, comprehension signal) to modify instruction mid-day, not only during pre-planning
  • Delivering running records, fluency probes, and decoding assessments to generate gains visible in weekly campus data reviews
  • Serving as the engaging, high-energy adult your K-3 students anticipate seeing every day
What You Won’t Be Doing
  • Implementing a published reading curriculum, scripted program, or district pacing calendar; you create lessons from student data
  • Delivering lectures to a full classroom; all instruction occurs in small, targeted groups and students complete academic subjects through adaptive apps
  • Serving as a reading consultant, coach to other teachers, or district-level specialist; you are classroom-based with children every day
  • Running a traditional classroom schedule: subject-by-subject lectures, homework…
