The English Language Studies (ELS) Department is seeking a part-time Academic Coordinator to support curriculum, instructional resources, faculty technology, tutoring services, and departmental assessment initiatives. The Academic Coordinator will work collaboratively with the Department Chair, the Coordinator of ELS Student Support and Adjunct Services, the Director of Adjunct Faculty and ELS Lab Services, and ELS faculty to strengthen consistency across courses and ensure that instructional and academic support resources are aligned with departmental goals.
This is a part-time hourly position.
Primary Responsibilities- Review, update, and organize departmental Lib Guides and academic resources for faculty.
- Develop and maintain standardized Blackboard course shells
, including instructional materials, assignments, digital resources, and online learning platforms. - Coordinate alignment between the Writing Lab and ELS courses
, including developing resources and training materials for tutors. - Assist with curriculum and learning-outcome mapping
, documenting how course outcomes align with departmental program outcomes. - Support preparation of the ELS Program Review
, including organizing documentation, compiling and reviewing data, and assisting with report preparation. - Collaborate with faculty and department leadership on other curriculum, instructional technology, assessment, and academic-support projects as needed.
- Master’s degree in ESL, TESOL, Applied Linguistics, Linguistics, or a closely related field required.
- Experience teaching ESL at the college level.
- Experience with Blackboard or other learning management systems.
- Strong organizational, technology, communication, and collaborative skills.
- Experience with curriculum development, assessment, tutoring programs, or program review is desirable.
The completion of a background check will be required for the selected candidate.
Compensation: Compensation is determined by a variety of criteria, including but not limited to, previous relevant experience, education level, and certifications. The range for this position is $25-$30 per hour.
