We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Center Mechanical Engineer to support the design, standardization, and delivery of large-scale data center facilities. This role plays a critical part in shaping mechanical and cooling strategies across a growing portfolio of mission-critical infrastructure. The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise in data center mechanical systems, with a particular focus on high-performance cooling solutions for dense compute environments.
This position will act as a technical authority on mechanical design, partnering closely with internal engineering, operations, and project teams, as well as external consultants and vendors, to deliver scalable, efficient, and future-ready facilities. Travel to active data center sites will be required.
Key Responsibilities- Serve as the mechanical subject matter expert for data center projects, ensuring designs align with established standards, basis of design, and long-term portfolio objectives.
- Lead and manage the mechanical design process, coordinating with consultants, equipment vendors, and internal stakeholders to meet schedule, quality, and performance expectations.
- Develop, review, and validate mechanical system designs, including drawings, specifications, and shop drawings, with an emphasis on cooling performance and reliability.
- Drive the evaluation and integration of advanced cooling technologies, including chilled-water systems, liquid cooling, high-density airflow strategies, and economizer-based designs.
- Shape long-term cooling strategies to support increasing rack densities, AI and high-performance computing workloads, and evolving operational requirements.
- Support commissioning and site execution by verifying systems meet design intent, operational needs, and performance criteria.
- Collaborate with IT, operations, and construction teams to ensure mechanical systems are fully integrated with facility and compute requirements.
- Contribute to lessons learned, continuous improvement initiatives, and the evolution of mechanical and cooling design standards across the portfolio.
- Apply innovative problem-solving approaches to cooling efficiency, redundancy, and scalability challenges in mission-critical environments.
