Position Summary

The Rapid Group is seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Manager / Estimator to support the successful planning, estimating, and execution of mechanical and electro-mechanical projects across industrial, municipal, commercial, water/wastewater, and transportation sectors. This role is responsible for evaluating construction plans and site conditions, preparing detailed cost estimates, developing project schedules and budgets, and coordinating with customers, vendors, subcontractors, and manufacturers from proposal through project completion.

The ideal candidate brings strong technical knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, proven project management experience, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment while ensuring quality, safety, and profitability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze work plans and develop a systematic approach to carry out the work in an effective manner
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for Industrial, Municipal and Commercial projects
  • Coordinate work with vendors, suppliers and subcontractors as necessary during both proposal development and implementation phases
  • Conduct onsite evaluations as needed to review project scope and to identify the resources necessary to perform the field work
  • Perform field measurements and coordinate equipment fabrication with manufacturers to suit field conditions
  • Maintain established project schedules and budgets, identify and document change order activities on a weekly basis
  • Attend customer meetings and present schedule updates throughout the course of the project
  • Work as a team player in preparation of bid and estimating documents
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 4 years of previous commercial, institutional, and industrial project management experience
  • Familiarity with mechanical and electrical equipment, materials and specifications
  • Experience reading and interpreting electrical and mechanical blueprints
  • Experience with Primavera and/or Microsoft Project scheduling a plus
  • High-energy individual who is self-motivated and committed to personal and professional success
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines
  • Experience with contract documents such as contract drawings, subcontracts, contract addendum, specifications, and change orders
  • Work under the direct supervision of the management team
  • Experience performing complex design/build and conceptual estimating
