Job Description
We are hiring a full‑time Project Engineer focused on land development and site civil engineering in our High Bridge, NJ office. The role involves stormwater management design, grading, utility design, drainage, soil erosion and sediment control, and land use processes in New Jersey. The Project Engineer will work on planning through design projects and occasionally perform field work.
Job Requirements- Provide project and technical support on major engineering design projects, including site layout, grading, stormwater management, drainage and conveyance system design, and related disciplines.
- Support development of construction documents and specifications for stormwater management.
- Assist with research, operations and maintenance, asset management, regulatory compliance, and program development.
- Manage task budgets, schedules, and deadlines, ensuring technical accuracy and scope awareness.
- Represent AKRF in client interactions.
- Deliver integrated, innovative outcomes through science, problem solving, and design of sustainable resilient infrastructure.
- Support adaptation and resilience to climate change, promoting livability and public health.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Land Development or Water Resources Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in urban green stormwater infrastructure, water/sewer linear infrastructure, wet‑weather planning/management, climate adaptation planning, or related disciplines, with an emphasis on design and planning.
- EIT preferred.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Experience with AutoCAD; knowledge of Autodesk Civil3D pipe network and corridor modeling is a plus.
- Experience with ArcGIS for integrating geospatial data in infrastructure planning and design.
- Experience conducting hydrologic and hydraulic analysis using SWMM, Autodesk Storm & Sanitary Analysis, Info Works, HydroCAD is a plus.
- Proficient skills in:
- Technical writing
- State and federal regulations
- Local and county zoning regulations and ordinances
- Interpretation of data and observations to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry guidelines
- Site layout design, topographic grading, stormwater management, and preparation of graphs, charts, tables, and statistical models from synthesized data in reports
