Controller, Finance & Banking, Accounting Manager

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Controller to lead our accounting and financial reporting functions within a growing manufacturing organization. This role requires an active CPA with strong technical accounting expertise, manufacturing cost accounting experience, and a proven track record supporting acquisitions and post-acquisition integration.

The Controller will oversee all accounting operations, ensure GAAP compliance, strengthen internal controls, and partner closely with operations to drive financial performance and scalability.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
• Prepare GAAP-compliant financial statements and management reporting
• Ensure accuracy of general ledger, reconciliations, and consolidations
• Manage external audit process and serve as primary contact for auditors
• Oversee tax compliance in coordination with external advisors

Manufacturing & Cost Accounting

• Oversee standard cost accounting, inventory valuation, and variance analysis
• Partner with operations on labor, overhead absorption, and production cost analysis
• Monitor inventory controls, cycle counts, and physical inventory processes
• Drive continuous improvement in cost visibility and margin analysis

M&A & Integration

• Support financial due diligence for acquisitions
• Lead purchase accounting and opening balance sheet integration
• Standardize accounting policies and procedures across acquired entities
• Integrate systems, controls, and reporting processes post-acquisition

Internal Controls & Process Improvement

• Design and maintain strong internal control environment
• Improve financial systems, ERP utilization, and reporting automation
• Ensure compliance with all regulatory and reporting requirements
• Build scalable processes to support growth

Leadership & Team Development

• Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team
• Establish performance expectations and accountability
• Foster collaboration between finance and operations

Qualifications

• Active CPA license required
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (Master’s preferred)
• 8–15+ years of progressive accounting experience
• 3+ years in manufacturing environment required
• Demonstrated acquisition and post-acquisition integration experience
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and purchase accounting
• Experience with ERP systems in a manufacturing setting
• Proven leadership and team management experience
