Job Overview – Surgical Scheduling Coordinator

Compensation: $50,000 – $55,000/year

Schedule:
Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM

TAG Med Staffing is hiring a Surgical Scheduling Coordinator in Bergen County, NJ for our client, supporting surgical scheduling, patient coordination, and pre- and post-operative workflows. In this role, you will manage the full patient journey by scheduling surgeries, coordinating pre‑op appointments, verifying insurance authorizations, reviewing medical records, and ensuring accurate documentation within EMR systems while maintaining HIPAA and OSHA compliance.

Responsibilities

as the Surgical Scheduling Coordinator:
  • Patient Coordination: Guide patients through the surgical process from consultation to post‑op, providing clear communication and support.
  • Scheduling & Pre‑Op: Schedule procedures and appointments, obtain medical clearances, and review surgical charts for completeness.
  • Insurance & Billing: Explain surgical fees, assist with payment options, and obtain insurance authorizations as needed.
  • Lead Management: Follow up promptly with new patient inquiries and maintain scheduling progress across all cases.
  • Liaison & Workflow Support: Collaborate with surgeons and third‑party providers while ensuring organized workflows and regulatory compliance.
Qualifications for the Surgical Scheduling Coordinator:
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience: 2+ years of experience in surgical scheduling or a related healthcare administrative role.
  • Technical

    Skills:

    Proficient in EMR systems, medical scheduling software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Industry Knowledge: Familiar with healthcare compliance regulations, including HIPAA and OSHA requirements.
  • Skills & Attributes: Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to multitask, work in a fast‑paced environment, and provide compassionate, high‑quality patient support.
  • Language

    Skills:

    Bilingual in Spanish and English strongly preferred.
