Per Diem Registered Nurse Pediatric Hematology

Responsible for utilizing the Nursing Process in a collaborative manner to plan, implement and evaluate nursing care in accordance with his/her scope of practice. The RN supports the goals and philosophy of the Department of Nursing within the St. Joseph's Healthcare System and on his/her assigned unit.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR THE JOB:

● Knowledge of theories, principles, and concepts normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred. Licensure required as a Registered Nurse by the State of New Jersey. Successful completion of department specific orientation and department specific certifications including APHON (Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Provider), BLS (Basic Life Support) and PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) at time of hire or within 6 months of hire.

Effective January 2019, St. Joseph's Health requires certifications for Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) to be granted through the American Heart Association.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:

Supervisor/Manager/Director of assigned unit.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

● Works with equipment or performs procedures where carelessness would probably result in minor cuts, bruises or muscle pulls.

● Works in an area in which there is exposure to hazardous chemicals or carcinogenic agents which requires caution and use of established safety guidelines and equipment.

● Works in an area in which there is exposure to radiation which requires caution and use of established safety guidelines and equipment.

● Work requires exposure to blood and various body fluids which requires caution and use of established safety guidelines and equipment.

● Works in an area that is very uncomfortable because of extreme temperatures, noise levels, odors or other similar conditions.

● Works requires handling of hot liquids, toxic or flammable chemicals, or contaminated materials which requires caution and use of established safety guidelines and equipment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

● Lifting objects weighting more than 100 pounds.

● Standing for more than two hours at a time.

● Stooping or bending Manual dexterity - reach and grasp objects

● Color vision - the ability to identify and distinguish colors Ability to hear and communicate orally

● Pushing or pulling supply carts

● Proofreading and checking documents for accuracy

● Using a keyboard to enter and transform words or data

● Using a video display terminal to receive or audit information or data
