Location: Northern New Jersey (Hybrid: 3 days onsite / 2 days remote)
Salary: $120,000–$150,000 base + bonus + benefits
Role OverviewWe are partnering with a high‑growth, commercially driven organisation to hire a Technology Manager – Data & Analytics to lead data delivery, platforms, and analytics operations across the business. This is a senior, hands‑on leadership role for someone who can take full ownership of data outputs, lead multi‑disciplinary teams, and act as the bridge between business stakeholders and technical delivery. The successful candidate will thrive in a fast‑paced retail environment, bring structure to complexity, and drive real business impact through data.
You will be accountable for what gets built, when it gets built, and how it gets delivered, while building high‑performing teams and strong stakeholder relationships.
Key Responsibilities Data & Platform Ownership- Act as the technical owner and primary point of contact for all data assets including reports, dashboards, datasets, integrations, and environments.
- Own the end‑to‑end lifecycle of data products from intake and prioritisation through to delivery and ongoing support.
- Ensure data quality, availability, reliability, and performance across all platforms.
- Lead, manage, and develop a multi‑disciplinary data and technology team including Analysts, BI Developers, Data Engineers, Integration Engineers, and QA.
- Manage team capacity, skills coverage, performance, and delivery velocity.
- Provide coaching, mentorship, and clear direction to drive high standards and continuous improvement.
- Work closely with third‑party partners and vendors to ensure effective delivery.
- Own and manage the data and analytics backlog including epics, features, and work items.
- Review, assess, and prioritise incoming project requests, enhancements, and support items.
- Lead effort estimation, sprint planning, backlog refinement, retrospectives, and daily stand‑ups.
- Balance speed‑to‑value with technical quality, ensuring sound engineering decisions are made.
- Partner closely with senior stakeholders across the business to understand priorities and translate requirements into actionable delivery plans.
- Lead the analysis and breakdown of business requirements into user stories and technical designs.
- Provide clear, accurate, and regular updates on delivery progress, risks, and dependencies.
- Build trust and influence across both technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Ensure best‑practice engineering techniques, documentation standards, and architectural governance are followed.
- Oversee access controls, data quality checks, backup and recovery processes, and environment management.
- Champion a lean, agile, and incremental delivery approach
. - Drive continuous improvement, innovation, and optimisation across data platforms and processes.
- 5+ years’ experience leading data, analytics, or technology teams in a fast‑paced, commercial environment (Retail, FMCG, Hospitality, Consumer, or similar).
- Proven experience owning enterprise BI platforms, data pipelines, and analytics delivery
. - Strong background working with Power BI, Azure, Databricks, modern data platforms
, and cloud‑based data ecosystems. - Hands‑on experience with data integration, ETL/ELT pipelines, data modelling, and analytics engineering
. - Comfortable managing multiple stakeholders, competing priorities, and complex delivery roadmaps.
- Experience working with third‑party suppliers and delivery partners
. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts for senior, non‑technical audiences.
