Job Overview

NJ Transit is seeking a highly experienced Senior Service Now Leader to provide hands-on technical leadership for the Service Now platform. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in Service Now development, administration, architecture, integrations, ITSM processes, and platform governance.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role
, not a pure Service Now administration position. The candidate should be comfortable making platform-level technical decisions, leading complex Service Now initiatives, developing solutions, managing integrations, and mentoring other Service Now professionals.

Required Qualifications
  • 7+ years of hands-on experience with Service Now development and administration

  • 7+ years of experience working with ITIL-based IT Service Management (ITSM)

  • Strong experience with JavaScript, Glide API, Flow Designer, Integration Hub, and Service Now Studio

  • Extensive experience developing and managing REST/SOAP enterprise integrations

  • Experience with Service Now core modules including:

    • Incident

    • Problem

    • Change

    • Request / Service Catalog

    • Knowledge Management

    • CMDB

    • Discovery

    • Asset Management

  • Strong understanding of Service Now platform architecture, governance, upgrades, releases, and environment strategies

  • Experience with Service Now workflows, scripting, automation, and complex configurations

  • Experience with
    CMDB data modeling, reconciliation, normalization, and CI lifecycle management

  • Experience with
    Discovery schedules, probes/patterns, classification, and Service Mapping

  • Strong understanding of Service Now security, RBAC, access controls, and audit requirements

  • Experience with Service Now upgrades, patches, hotfixes, and platform maintenance

  • Strong technical documentation and mentoring skills

Required Certifications

Candidate must have:

  • Service Now Certified System Administrator (CSA)

  • At least one Service Now Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS) certification in one of the following:

    • CIS-ITSM

    • CIS-ITOM

    • CIS-HRSD

    • CIS-SAM

    • CIS-HAM

    • CIS-Discovery

  • Service Operations Workspace

  • CMDB / Discovery / Service Mapping

  • Performance Analytics

  • Software Asset Management (SAM)

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical leadership and ownership of the Service Now platform

  • Lead Service Now architecture, design, development, administration, and implementation activities

  • Design and develop advanced workflows, business rules, scripts, and Flow Designer solutions

  • Develop and maintain enterprise integrations using REST, SOAP, Integration Hub, OAuth, and MID Server

  • Establish platform governance, technical standards, roadmap, and release strategies

  • Manage update sets, source control, development environments, testing, and production releases

  • Support CMDB architecture, data quality, reconciliation, normalization, and CI lifecycle processes

  • Configure and maintain Discovery, Service Mapping, SAM/HAM, and other Service Now capabilities

  • Implement appropriate RBAC, security, access, and audit controls

  • Support Service Now upgrades, patches, hotfixes, and platform enhancements

  • Develop technical documentation, runbooks, administration guides, and support procedures

  • Troubleshoot complex Service Now platform and integration issues

  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to Service Now developers and administrators

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, project teams, vendors, and IT leadership

Candidate Requirements
  • Must be local to the Newark, NJ area

  • Must be available to work 3 days onsite / 2 days remote
