Overview
We are seeking a skilled EMV Smartcard Developer to design, develop, and optimize embedded firmware for smart card and secure element applications. This role will involve working with Java Card technology, cryptographic algorithms, and secure hardware environments to develop high-performance, secure, and compliant solutions for payment, identity, and access control applications.
The EMV Smartcard Developer will be expected to work on-site five days a week in our Somerset, NJ office.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver technical expertise and product knowledge to sales teams and customers through presentations, demonstrations, and training sessions.
- Conduct customer visits to provide consulting and training on technical solutions and offerings.
- Coordinate internal departments (R&D, Tech Support, Sales, and Production) to manage customer-initiated new product development projects.
- Ensure alignment and timely execution of all technical deliverables throughout project lifecycle.
- Act as a technical backup to other team members by providing documentation, guidance, and training to support internal stakeholders, partners, and customers.
- Serve as the technical lead for EMV product development, including chip profile definition, key management, and chip personalization specification.
- Maintain direct technical relationships with customer and partner organizations at various levels.
- Provide end-to-end technical involvement across internal departments and external entities (e.g. Visa, Mastercard) from solution proposal through deployment, ensuring security compliance and robust key management.
- Deliver training sessions on products and solutions; contribute to proposal and tender documentation.
- Offer consultancy, change management support, and troubleshooting for customer production issues and technical inquiries.
- Oversee and implement key management protocols and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 (or more) years of experience in Java Card firmware development.
- Self-driven, hands-on technology professional with strong analytical and conceptual thinking.
- Ability to understand customer and industry needs and translate them into actionable technical solutions and product plans.
- Exceptional organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with a results-oriented approach.
- Effective at managing multiple high-priority tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal, communication (written and verbal), and presentation skills.
- Fluency in English is required.
- Proficiency in French is desirable.
- Proficient in Smart Card technologies such as Java Card, MULTOS, and EMV.
- Understanding of cryptographic methods including symmetric/asymmetric encryption (DES, 3
DES, RSA). - Experience with payment Smart Card services is highly desirable.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on consistency and accuracy.
- Capable of working independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment
