Role DescriptionThis is a full-time, on-site Mechanic role based at Englewood LAB’s facility in Paterson, NJ. The Mechanic is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing production and packaging equipment used in cosmetic manufacturing, including mixers, fillers, conveyors, and related machinery. Daily tasks include performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical and basic electrical issues, completing work orders, and documenting repairs to support safe and efficient operations.
The role also involves working closely with production teams to minimize downtime, assisting with equipment changeovers, and following all safety, quality, and GMP guidelines. The Mechanic may participate in process improvements, support equipment upgrades, and help train colleagues on proper machine operation and care.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with experience maintaining and repairing industrial or manufacturing equipment, preferably in cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, food, or similar industries.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, equipment manuals, and maintenance documentation, and to apply basic troubleshooting methods.
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance practices, including lubrication, inspection, part replacement, and equipment calibration.
- Familiarity with basic electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems as they relate to production machinery operation and safety.
- Comfort working with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment in a manufacturing environment while following safety protocols.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize tasks to support production schedules.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with maintenance, production, and quality teams.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational training, technical certification, or apprenticeship in industrial maintenance or a related field is preferred.
- Willingness to work on-site in Paterson, NJ, with flexibility for overtime or shift work as business needs require.
- Experience in GMP or regulated manufacturing environments and familiarity with cosmetic or skincare production processes is a plus.
