MAKE A DIFFERENCE THROUGH SERVICE Are you passionate about serving your community and helping individuals experiencing homelessness? Join City Relief as an Ameri Corps Volunteer and play an important role in strengthening volunteer engagement while supporting outreach efforts that connect individuals and families to critical resources. This is a unique opportunity to gain hands‑on experience in nonprofit operations, volunteer management, community outreach, and program development while making a meaningful impact throughout northern New Jersey.
POSITION SUMMARY The Outreach & Volunteer Engagement Ameri Corps Volunteer will support City Relief's outreach and volunteer programs by improving volunteer onboarding, enhancing training materials, strengthening cross-department collaboration, and participating in direct community outreach. Throughout the service term, the Volunteer will work alongside experienced staff to develop sustainable systems that improve the volunteer experience while helping connect community members with food, clothing, housing resources, and supportive services.
MemberDuties
- Participate in community outreach events serving individuals experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity.
- Connect community members with available resources and referrals.
- Assist with volunteer recruitment, onboarding, orientation, and engagement.
- Help improve volunteer training materials and onboarding processes.
- Support the coordination of outreach events and volunteer activities.
- Maintain accurate outreach and volunteer records using organizational software.
- Assist with inventory, donations, and resource distribution.
- Collaborate with staff to improve operational systems using project management tools such as Asana.
- Develop training resources and documentation that support long‑term program sustainability.
- Participate in team meetings, professional development, and ongoing Ameri Corps training.
