Housing and Community Development Specialist
The Housing and Community Development Network of New Jersey (HCDNNJ) is a statewide association of more than 275 nonprofit organizations dedicated to advancing affordable housing, economic opportunity, and neighborhood revitalization. Through its Ameri Corps VISTA program, HCDNNJ works to build the capacity of nonprofit organizations to better serve low- and moderate-income communities across New Jersey. Ameri Corps VISTA members support initiatives that address housing instability, eviction prevention, and access to critical resources by strengthening outreach, communications, data systems, and program development efforts.
Members collaborate with HCDNNJ staff and partner organizations to develop tools, expand resource access, and improve service delivery for individuals and families facing economic hardship. This program provides VISTA members with hands‑on experience in community development, housing policy, and nonprofit capacity building. Members gain skills in research, communications, data analysis, and program coordination while contributing to meaningful, community-focused work. By supporting sustainable systems and strengthening organizational capacity, the HCDNNJ VISTA program helps ensure that community-based organizations are better equipped to serve residents and advance housing stability and economic opportunity throughout the state.
