The General Worker supports conservation operations by keeping park facilities, grounds, and infrastructure clean, safe, and well maintained. You will assist with maintenance tasks, environmental programs, and conservation activities as required.

This role involves manual labour and requires physical fitness, discipline, and teamwork. You will work closely with rangers and other conservation staff.

To be considered for this position, applicants must meet the following requirements:

• Valid driver’s licence
• 1–2 years of General Worker experience
• Basic knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS)
• Chainsaw and brush cutter competency
• Ability to communicate clearly and work well in a team

While not compulsory, the following will be considered an advantage:

• Short course in landscaping
• Experience working with machinery and equipment
• Practical experience in outdoor or maintenance work

You will help maintain cleanliness and order in your assigned section by:

• Removing rubbish
• Cleaning picnic areas and public toilets
• Maintaining gardens and natural terrain
• Cleaning office buildings and surrounding areas
• Ensuring all areas meet required cleanliness standards

This work helps keep the park safe and welcoming for staff and visitors.

The role also includes assisting with general maintenance tasks such as:

• Water provision systems
• Boardwalks and trails
• Reservoirs, pumps, and drainage lines

You may also perform basic technical tasks within your skill level, including:

• Painting
• Basic electrical work
• Plumbing
• Welding

You will perform physical work to help maintain:

• Buildings
• Fences
• Roads and trails
• Machinery and tools

You must also clean and maintain equipment used during fieldwork and report any faults to management.

As part of the Conservation Department, you may be required to assist with:

• Game capture operations and wildlife monitoring
• Land rehabilitation projects
• Fire management and emergency response activities

These duties play an important role in protecting wildlife and natural habitats.
