Position Overview
This position is required to support the company's objectives for product quality through control of incoming materials, first article inspections, spot product audits, and any final inspection/certificates of conformance, as well as reporting of any identified production monitoring data. The role also supports maintaining ISO 9001 certification by conducting timely quality audits according to the ISO 9001 audit schedule.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct incoming material and subcontracted process output inspections, set material specifications, and record results in the Visual Quality module.
- Perform first articles for each customer order, collaborating with production employees and shift supervisors to ensure optimal product quality throughout the order. Immediately report any out‑of‑specification conditions to the operator, shift supervisors, and Quality Manager, and complete all necessary first‑article paperwork.
- Lead spot product audits with shift supervisors and operators to monitor product quality during manufacturing. Report any out‑of‑specification conditions immediately and complete internal non‑conformity documentation.
- Conduct quality audits per the ISO 9001 audit schedule and document any findings.
- Prepare reporting for identified CTQ (Critical to Quality) attributes for each product group.
- Prepare all required Certificates of Conformance for outgoing product.
- Collaborate with shift supervisors and production leads on decisions involving product quality, quality hold, or quality stoppage.
- Conduct material or product testing as directed by R&D, shift supervisors, or the Quality Manager.
- Summarize test results and deliver them to the requesting party.
- Engage with and support company wide Safety and Cleanliness programs.
- Perform other job functions as assigned.
- Minimum 1 to 3 years (or more) of relevant experience.
- High school education required;
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or mathematics preferred. - Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and mathematical skills.
- Strong attention to detail and task orientation with excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to use, understand, or interpret measurement devices.
- Enthusiastic, cooperative team player, adaptable to change, professional demeanor, sensitive to client needs, self‑motivated, creative, and innovative.
- High level of computer literacy, including Microsoft Office and Outlook.
- Must be able to lift 20 lbs.
- Must sustain office work (8+ hours/day): sitting in an office chair, typing, reaching for the telephone, standing at office equipment, hearing for phone use, sight for computer use.
- Must sustain factory work (8+ hours/day): standing at machinery, repetitive measuring, reaching and pulling, sight for measurement device reading, walking through shop.
- Protective ear coverings are recommended due to shop noise levels.
