Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Seasonal Marine Field Worker for the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences, Haskin Shellfish Research Laboratory, Port Norris, New Jersey.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Assists with monitoring of Delaware Bay oyster fishery.
- Monitors includes field collection aboard research and commercial fishing vessels as well as laboratory processing (measuring, shucking, oyster disease/pathology analysis) of oyster dredge samples.
- Performs data entry and audit associated with these tasks will also be required.
- Provides support as needed to additional projects by assisting with tasks like animal care, video analysis, and Living Shoreline installation.

FLSA Nonexempt Salary Details$15.92 - $18.00 per hour

QualificationsMinimum Education and Experience
- High school/vocational school education or equivalent experience.
- Computer knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to accurately and clearly fill out detailed data sheets.
- Bachelor’s degree in biology or related field preferred and an interest in biology, and/or scientific/technical laboratory training or research experience.
- Ability to work in potentially adverse weather conditions.
- Ability to lift over 50 lbs.
