Job Description/Responsibilities

The Employee Benefits Account Manager plays a key role in overseeing and servicing a specific small-group set of clients. This position focuses on providing proactive and valuable services that enhance the client experience, boost retention, and increase account profitability. Acting as the main point of contact for daily client needs, this role supports insurance producers by managing renewals, enrollments, compliance assistance, and ongoing benefits administration.

Be the go-to service contact for small employer benefits clients, addressing questions, troubleshooting problems, and ensuring client satisfaction. Handle annual renewals, including collecting data, quoting, comparing plans, and preparing proposals. Organize open enrollment events, ensuring employee communications and enrollment support are in place. Process submissions for new business, including additions, terminations, and changes due to life events. Address issues related to carriers, billing, claims, and eligibility promptly and professionally.

Manage all routine client servicing independently. Provide agency value-added services, such as compliance advice, HR tools, employee education, market insights, plan performance, and wellness programs. Inform clients about their benefits options, features, and enrollment methods through workshops, webinars, and one-on-one consultations. Advocate for agency service tools and technology platforms to enhance client engagement. Internal Collaboration and Revenue Support. Ensure a seamless client experience and spot potential upsell and cross-sell opportunities (dental, vision, life, disability, voluntary benefits).

Keep client records and documentation accurate within the agency management system. Assist in onboarding new clients and guarantee a smooth implementation process. Monitor service activity, renewal schedules, and client deliverables. Meet service level targets and retention benchmarks. Attend and engage in regular department and monthly company meetings.

Requirements/Skills

A solid understanding of group health insurance and ancillary benefits is essential. Strong customer service and communication abilities are crucial. Capacity to handle multiple accounts and meet deadlines is needed. Proficiency in agency management software is important. Active New Jersey Life Insurance and Health Insurance Licenses are required. A bachelor’s degree is necessary. Experience with Applied Systems Epic is preferred.
