Position SummaryThe Rapid Group is seeking a skilled Controls Technician to join our team. In this role, you will install, troubleshoot, and service a wide range of industrial control systems, motors, and electrical equipment for industrial, commercial, and municipal customers. You will work both independently and alongside a highly trained team of field technicians to ensure the safe and efficient operation of critical equipment.
This position is ideal for someone with strong technical expertise and a commitment to high‑quality service.
- Install, repair, and service industrial equipment including pump control panels, VFDs, PLCs, and ATS systems.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot wiring, electrical, and machine control issues.
- Work with industrial electric motors and motor control systems.
- Configure and maintain variable‑speed motor controllers.
- Service industrial instrumentation including temperature, flow, level, pressure, voltage, vibration, and other monitoring devices.
- Read and interpret electrical wiring schematics and technical diagrams.
- Perform maintenance and repairs on pumps, flow meters, and control panels.
- Utilize service test equipment and hand tools effectively.
- Collaborate with fellow field technicians to ensure high‑quality work and customer satisfaction.
- Apply strong mathematical and critical‑thinking skills when assessing equipment issues.
- 35 years in a similar electrical or controls technician role.
- Strong knowledge of industrial motors and motor controls.
- Proficiency with PLCs, VFDs, ATS, and industrial instrumentation.
- Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams and schematics.
- Skilled in troubleshooting electrical and control systems.
- Electrical or controls certifications.
- Ability to stand, lift, and work with tools or equipment in field environments.
- Active driver’s license required for all field service positions.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Excellent problem‑solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Clear communication and customer service mindset.
- Full‑time, onsite, field‑based role.
- Typical schedule:
Monday–Friday 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM. - Overtime and on‑call shifts may be required based on customer needs.
- Travel to customer sites required.

- Pay Range: $35.00–$45.00 per hour (based on experience and qualifications).
