The Passaic County Department of Senior Services is seeking a dynamic individual to fill the position of Senior Community Service Worker. This person will be required to perform office duties, field work, and carry out care management cases as well as supervising a staff of four as required.

• Encourage residents to become self-supporting when possible.
• Aid residents within the scope of agency functions.
• Identifies and obtains services for residents having extraordinary needs beyond the scope of agency functions.
• Coordinate and enlist the assistance of resident’s family, friends, and other social service agencies.
• Explains the objectives and functions of the community service program to residents.
• Prepares reports of program activities establishes and maintains records and files.
• Provides advice, instructions, and guidance to other community service workers.
• Providing referrals to other agencies for additional services.
• Knowledge of the techniques used to promote community resource programs.
• Ability to explain the objectives and functions of community service programs.
• Ability to organize time and efforts to meet assigned situations and work demands.
• Ability to work harmoniously with community residents and to provide guidance and assistance to staff.
• Will be required to learn to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the agency, office, or related units.

Requirements:

Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree.

Experience:One (1) year of experience in an agency operating programs relating to elderly people in the fields of social work, public health, social welfare, sociology, gerontology, psychology, counseling community organization work, or related field.

Note:Applicants who do not possess the required education may substitute additional experience as indicated on a year for year basis with thirty (30) semester hour credits being equal to one year of experience.

License:Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey.
