Accounting Technician

The City of Patterson’s Finance Department is seeking to fill a full-time Accounting Technician position and to establish an Eligibility List. Duties include, under limited supervision, maintenance of the general ledger, a wide range of payroll processing activities and reconciliation of checking accounts; assist in the preparation of a variety of financial reports; provide technical assistance to higher-level accounting staff; serve as liaison on accounting functions to other City departments and staff;

may provide functional guidance to less experienced staff; and perform related duties as required and/or assigned.

• Maintain the general ledger and perform payroll processing activities.
• Reconcile checking accounts and assist in the preparation of financial reports.
• Provide technical assistance to higher-level accounting staff and act as a liaison to other City departments and staff.
• Provide functional guidance to less experienced staff when appropriate and perform related duties as required and/or assigned.

• Education: Equivalent to an Associate’s Degree from an accredited college or university with coursework in bookkeeping, accounting, or a related field.
• Experience: Two (2) years of increasingly responsible accounting support experience equivalent to the Senior Accounting Assistant with the City.
